Finals Hell + Girls Nite

W's in the last stretch of his 2nd-to-last quarter & has basically locked himself in our guest bedroom which he turned into his little office/study space. Ezra & I sometimes visit with food, water & encouraging hugs. So last week while he was finishing up a project and Ezra was tucked into bed, I slipped out for a refreshing & fun girls' night to see:

We met up early for some drinks & apps at On The Border while the line-up to go in was still mellow. (Annie, we missed you!!) It's definitely nice to be able to re-charge those Mama batteries every now & again.

The audience alone was enough to make this movie great. We spotted two men, lots of ridiculously high heels, a handful of way-to-fancy-for-sitting-in-the-dark dresses, a group of ladies drinking cosmos from plastic martini glasses, and 3 feather head pieces. Great fun!

Date Night

Date night last night was a movie one! And boy, Julie & Julia has got to be the cutest, sweetest, yummiest movie I've seen in awhile. Pure, simple entertainment!! Both W & I enjoyed it immensity (it did help that he has a culinary background!). This is a "totally worth it" movie. And W said it made him get antsy to start cooking again...All right!! That's what I'm talking about! :)

Movie Night

Saturday night we watched "Fireproof". And although either the acting or the script was pretty cheesy, we both really liked it and cried during it! I was balling by the end. I really liked how it showed a couple in the midst of marriage unlike almost ALL romantic films when they lead up to marriage & end the movie then. The couple's passive aggression conversations broke my heart. But, this couple does regain the romance after years of struggle, sin and suffering has worn them down-- only through true love...a love that loves unconditionally & with sacrifice. Just like Christ did on the cross. The message was great!! And the film respected the covenant of marriage throughout. I recommend this film, but beware of the cheese!

Oh, yes...

It was so great! Definitely worth seeing again, and I'm sure (much to William's dismay) we'll be owning it! :)  Going with mom was a great ending to a looooong week! We both needed a little chick flick, fashion action! 

Chick Flicks

I'm at a stand-still. Since we don't have cable..or get any channels for that matter, our DVD collection has grown some. We'll pop a movie in while grading and doing homework. I really like them while William's at work and I'm catching up on grading... it means I can watch a "my kind" of movie. At this point, however, I've exhausted our small chick flick supply. So I'm looking for some suggestions. I need some quality yet simple-minded (can you have both?) chick flicks that I can pop in while doing something else. Here's our current list:
