I caught W hanging out with the little boys during snack time at our 1st Nursery duty on Sunday morning!! Definitely some good practice & just plain fun! I got to meet some other moms in the church and had some encouraging conversations. We even met a visitor (pregnant with #2) who has the same due date as us.

Airplanes!

This weekend we headed out to the Livermore Municipal Airport Open House. We heard about it on the radio as we were heading back from an awesome yard sale and decided to check it out. Even with the triple digit heat and black top, it was really fun. Tons of personal airplanes and lots of people out. W spent a good 45 mins talking to a couple about getting a pilot's license! Definitely another "wish list" item for future goals because there's no way we have $10,000 to burn! :)

Pines Ranch

We got a wonderful opportunity to get away this past weekend! For awhile now, W & I have been praying about where we wanted to formally serve as a team in our church. As Christians, we know we are called to serve in some capacity. Although we have been enjoying receiving from the body of Christ, we knew it was time to commit. So this weekend the youth leadership (middle school, high school & young adults) were having a retreat for those involved or looking to get involved. It was so awesome to get to know more people from VBC, hear & be reminded of God's refreshing truths, and make a commit to serve. And the place we stayed at was A.M.azing!! Truly a resort in the foothills!! Here's our room:I really wish I took more pictures..the pool & slide were so cool as was the ranch lodge. Everything was decked out in old western/country motif!! We are so excited to be committing a year of service to Quest (young adult) ministry. We both love the shepherding pastor's vision and method for running things. His wife is also due in November so he's totally understanding of how our involvement will change during the year, but we hope our little one gets the chance to be raised by a community-- not just us.

We're Hooked

While visiting my sis-in-law Ruth, we discovered LOST since they had the 1st season on DVD. I had seen a few episodes before with friends, but since I never started at the beginning, it was hard to follow & get into. Well, in one week, we're already into season 2 and watching them on hulu.com. And it's great that we borrowed this book from Ruth to help explain each episode's mysteries!

The Day We Met...

September 3rd, 2006...Sunday afternoon...at The Gypsy Den. We love the atmosphere so much...in a quick moment inside the "anti-mall"L.A.B., you completely forget you're in an overcrowded, cemented OC. :) Very hippy, bohemian! And three years later, we're still going back every chance we're down in the OC. This time we brought baby S to enjoy our little tradition with their fabulous Big Train Chai Tea lattes. I was SO pleased to discover that they had decaff!! It's so fun to have a location that's so iconic to us.

2nd Day's A Charm

So this is what happened the first time I held Baby Charis: Thankfully, the next day was looking much better for my mothering skills! ;) I was a tad bit worried!

Baby Shower

We're visiting the Swenson Clan in OC! We were able to book it down here in enough time for me to attend another girlfriend's shower. She's due in November, 4 weeks earlier than me. She also doesn't know what's she's having so it was all browns, greens, and yellows! I was really impressed by all the really cute gender-neutral clothes that ladies gifted. And there were no repeats!! I didn't win any games. It's really hard to be pregnant & talking about your current life without using the word "baby". My sis-in-law who is also pregnant was there too. Ruth is a month later than me. So the three pregnant ladies got to hang out & catch up!

Unconventional Photo Shoot

My Aunt (the sewer) is also a diver. She & her husband are leaving this month for Tahiti. She asked if she could use our pool to dust off her underwater camera and start practicing with it before the big trip-- we gave her the two thumbs up. W & I were around so we jumped in the pool with her! And there you have it... maternity photo shoot underwater! :)

Book Club

A few months ago, my friend Heather started a book club with some of the girls in our complex. It has since grown to be around 7 of us ladies. And it is SUCH a blast!! I've always wanted to join a book club, since I love reading & discussing literature--especially with others with different perspectives & insights! Last night, I was in charge of leading the discussion for our latest book, The Time Traveler's Wife by Aubrey Niffenegger. Such a wonderful novel! (W has even picked it up & is almost done with it.) We had a great discussion about characters, themes, and other topics within the novel. And the fact that many of us were balling by the end. ;) Adult books are such tear-jerkers!!

Come Friday night, we'll be out for a book club date night to see the movie!! So excited to finally see it. It's been so hard waiting especially after finishing the novel. I'm really interested to see how they'll portray the novel plus I love Rachel McAdams!! And I can tell just by the trailer that I'll love the clothes too. Good signs so far! ;)

Our next books are called Sarah's Key and Night. Both books cover the Holocaust & I imagine will be pretty heavy. So it's off to the library & store for another box of tissues!
