Point Reyes: Tule Elk Reserve

After seeing the horridly hot weather set for the weekend, we decided to indulge our hankering for an adventure and made a weekender trip to Point Reyes. We've been wanting to check out areas more north of us since we always seem to go to the city or south of us. Point Reyes is a gorgeous park along coast with lots to do and see. 

We started with a picnic in the grass near the Tomales Point Trailhead at the Tule Elk Reserve.

Then it was off on the trail in search of the roaming elk. We also explored the Pierce Point Ranch with its rundown barn and historical buildings.

W made it clear there's more than enough room for three. I thought he was exceeding capacity. ;)

So, we really didn't see any Elk along our hike. I guess they aren't usually along the trail during windy periods of the day. And it was windy!

"Me!"

But we did see the herd as we were driving out of the park and onto the next destination.
