Circles

Circles. Those little orb-like things that you see jettisoning off of light sources when you take a photograph. The shape that makes the world go round, quite literally. The wheel is a circle. The ring is a circle. The shape of LifeSavers candy, one tasty little circle. So beautiful and elegant and yet so useful and important. Without circles we would not have the automobile. Without circles we would not have the sewage pipe (oh where would this world be without sewage pipes? Oh wait, never mind. I’ve seen it. Thank GOD for pipes!). Without circles we would be relegated to living the life of a square, or any other polygon you can think of.

Circles are used for the most mundane of daily tasks from driving to work to flushing the toilet, and circles are worshipped and used in worship from time out of mind. And many companies’ emblems utilize the beautiful circle to give an air of strength, simplicity or just to make it look good. There is nothing to my knowledge that is truly mystic or magical about the shape of a circle. Like many things in this life it is neutral and can become useful or a source of idolatry, whatever our futile human minds choose to use it for. I hope you enjoy the photos from both Jess and my daily lives. This is but a sample of what we have seen and found, and the subject could be exhausted with scores of paragraphs, but as this is a blog I shall not bore you with a plethora of words, save these few thoughts.
