Yippie, I've been tagged for one of those survey thingys..

1. What did you do 10 years ago?

Me: 10 Years ago I had just finished my freshman year of high school. I was a cheerleader, JV soccer player, a newsboy in the high school musical & um, being a silly girl. Also, making new friends since I didn't go to the middle school that fed into our high school. I was probably at cheer camp at UC Irvine since we practiced & went to camps during the summers.

William: Finish up his junior year at high school down south. He worked at coffee house during the summer, but did Christian summer camps during the previous two summers. He ran track and cross country. He did high jump, long jump, hurdles, 1 mile and relay. He was also about to purchase his first motorcycle, but drove a VW rabbit in the meantime.

2. Five items on your to-do list today?

-Buy a new mattress pad (ours has burn holes from the dryer from the cat episode, see "Oh, No!")
- Hang new pictures up
-Be active: walk, bike ride
-Catch up on "So you think you can dance" at my parent's
-Make our bed

William:
-Work
-Pick up new suit for work
-Figure out our car insurance
-Kiss & hug his wife
-Survive "So you think you can dance" with his wife

3. Snacks that you enjoy?

Me:
-Fruit--any and all kinds. Especially berries!
-BBQ or Honey Mustard chips: Kettle Chips are amazing!
-Tomato, Cheese, Basil covered in oil & balsamic vinegar
-Coffee & cookies
-Any granola mix with dried fruit & nuts

William
-Wheat Thins (Tomato Basil)
-Chips & Salsa
-Nuts
-Meals..William can eat them for snacks :)

4. What would you do if you were a billionaire?

Well I could go two sides on that one: selfish flesh or Christ-like, here's a little of each:

-Support missionary friends on a monthly basis as well as donate to places that help & support young pregnant girls
-Adopt a quiver full of kids
-Take all kinds of classes for things I want to learn: sewing, cooking, dancing, playing the cello, etc
-Stop working so much & vacate to the world :)
-Savings! Especially for those future college costs!

William: Put it in a bank account & invest some, get a part time job, travel & do missionary work, make sure his family was set for life

5. Places that you would live?

This is a tough one...
-Europe for sure
-I miss Colorado & Montana
-A major city for some time would be fun too: Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, Boston
-In college, I totally wanted to live with the Amish for a month to learn all those sweet skills & have a simple life (that's what glamourous West L.A. can do to someone :))

William:
-Australia
-Somewhere near family: Indiana, Mass.
-In the country: Wyoming, Montana
-Africa

6. Do you have any hobbies?

Me: Well I had more before this last year when I started teaching. Since it's summer, I'm starting to finally picks things up again. I always love trying new one too. Gardening; painting; outdoors: biking, running; traveling; reading; can shopping be one too?

William: outdoors, motorcycling riding, country, reading, fixing things

7. Name a pet peeve:

William has a billion, here's a few:
-People who don't use their blinker when changing lanes (you're using a heavy ton machine.. you could save people by letting them know what you're doing & where you're going!)
-Freeways that make you change lanes in order to stay on them
-Toilet paper rolls put on the wrong way
-Discourteous people, in general

Me:
-Laundry left in the dryer...I don't iron but don't like wrinkles..I know, I'm lazy
-People who think the rules apply to everyone but them
-Wet towels on the ground or bed

Official Family Tradition

William and I have discovered our first married family tradition!! We're so excited. We noticed that every time we went away or if someone came to visit, we always pick up Thai Food for that last evening meal. It's after that long drive home & we're still on cloud 9 from vacating or we're sad to see our visitors go. So as not to lose that good feeling, we extend the time at home with Thai. We love Thai food, but don't get it often so it's a special treat. In the process, we've uncovered a small, inexpensive yet delicious Thai place walking distance from home. Bonus! They have the best curry & tom soup. So, we made the our pattern an official tradition! So come visit us & be a part of our tradition...

Cayucos, CA

A wonderful place to be for a weekend get-away. It was so lovely, I can't even begin to describe what a wonderful weekend away we had. It's our 6 month anniversary (now, don't be thinking this is going to be a regular monthly tradition, but fun to acknowledge) & a friend of William's was getting married there. So why not make a weekend of it?!?

We stayed at this amazing B&B called Cayucos Sunset Inn & were pampered immensely: Milk & Cookies at night, a wine & cheese evening spread, & breakfast in the morning! We were walking distance from the beach & had a big jet tub for two. And I swear the thread count had to be 1000. We spent the afternoon in Morro Bay and the evening beach wedding was beautiful. A wonderful weekend!

Oh, and don't forget to notice my husband's trendy threads. That's MY man!

$100 Store

Yup, that's right. I'm talking about Costco. We made our normal trip this week on Monday (typically after church on Sundays, with everyone else & their family!) We hadn't been for at least 3 weeks so we weren't too careful about budget. And lo & be hold, our bill was definitely over $100. After much debriefing, William & I truly believe that no one person or family can walk out of that store without spending more than $100. Even if you walk in with a list. We did.

Is it possible?? Has anyone done it??

Oh, No!

William and I went for a lovely walk yesterday evening. It was a cool, clean evening--perfect for walking! We went by the housing complex where our new favorite couple live. So naturally, we stopped by and visited for awhile. We walked back later that evening, thinking how well spent it was. When we got inside we noticed that our sliding glass door wasn't locked and of course we both claim that we ALWAYS lock it. It's happened before, but William, like a good protecting husband, is cautious & checks the house.

As he roamed, "Oh, No!!" comes from up stairs. "What, honey?!" I answered, slightly panicked. "Kitty Witty was up in our room!" Now, William is severely allergic to Kitty's hair. Since we've been married, William put in a spring-hinge so our master bedroom always stays shut... with a forgetful wife, an allergic husband must go to great measures. He gets very upset (and itchy) whenever the cat is on our bed. Kitty has not liked this x-communication plan from the beginning and will, on occasion, whine & cry during the night to express her displeasure. Well, apparently, last night she got FULL vengeance. While we were gone, Kitty Witty peed on our bed. A big, wide, wet puddle was gifted to us while we were on our lovely walk. It soaked all the way through to the mattress. So, all our bedding went straight to our washing machine & we poured a special mixture of Simple Green, Lysol & Febreeze on our mattress. We camped out last night in our guest room. We're still waiting for everything to get clean and return to our bedroom. Lesson learned, forgetful wife. No more propping the door open when I clean house.

Muhahaha, it's alive!

Our jack ('n the bean stalk) is bearing us beans! Just look at those baby bell peppa's. And one of our tomatoes is actually the color of red. Booya! The leaves are looking kinda dead even though I water them every day & a lot too. Any gardeners who know about wilt-y leaves? Or how about when we can actually start picking & eating? Those two details seemed to have escape me when I planted them. :) Still working out the kinks...guess, it goes to show how much faith I actually had in growing something edible. Didn't think I'd get to this stage...hee hee

We LOVED our photographer, Don Cutbirth, for our wedding. He was so professional but low key. We didn't even realize he was around, taking pictures the whole wedding. And they came out beautifully. One of his shots was used for the Castlewood Club website, how cool is that?!?

Fair Day

Last Sunday (after Kohl's spree), we went to the Fair with my folks. Good times! I haven't been to the fair in FOREVER. Last year for some reason we didn't go...oh, yeah, William working nights & my first attempt at teaching summer school--both extremely exhausting... so I was so excited to do it this summer. We walk around the gardens, exhibits, animals, & people-watched (my favorite). And of course, no fair experience is solidified until the eating of the funnel cake topped with strawberries, powered sugar & whipped cream. Yum! Thankfully we biked to my parents & walked to the fair--hopefully discounting some of our candy & junk food. Here are some pictures from the beautiful gardens! And of my husband playing. Somehow those are the only pictures I took. :)

I love this show!!

It's so dang addicting!!--which is probably why I'm limited to watching only at my parents & at nights when I'm nannying. Currently, I'm stuck on "So You Think You Can Dance". Now, I'm a huge proponent against TV watching. It totally wastes precious time & just like the computer, I'm never really refreshed when spending lots of time with it. But, I can totally validate this one, folks.



These dancers are so talented & (if you ignored the Pussycat Dolls bumping it as they "sang" last week during judge de-briefing time) the show is quite clean. It really inspires me in a weird way-- I love to dance & haven't been besides the Saddle Rack country dancing & various other clubs. But what about classes for hip hop or jazz? It's such a great workout & helps with flexibility. I can't help but want to get up and move to the music. So fun! Anyway, I have actually looked online for local dance studios & in our city's summer courses. I know it's so expensive but maybe. And Cat Deeley is super sweet & gorgeous. I love her dresses on the show!

PLUS one of the couples is WILL & JESS. Come on, how cool?
