4th of July Weekend

We had a great 4th of July weekend. My mom's dad was in town from Georgia so we all met up for breakfast. Quite the group! There's never a dull moment with the Watters family! Ezra did really well meeting all sorts of family members & being passed around.

We had a huge table!

It was great to see everyone in one place at one time. It's definitely been awhile, probably not since our wedding 2.5 years ago. We fueled up on a huge breakfast, took lots of pictures & videos, and then said our good-byes. This was just a pit stop on our way to Challenge to visit with W's brother's family. Frank's birthday is July 4th and they were having a huge BBQ for the YoungLife college interns so we jumped at the chance to hang out. 

The last time we were up at Woodleaf was last April when we had just found out about Ezra. We took a weekend away during my Spring Break to get our heads on straight since we were both quite shocked about the news. It was a moment to try to digest our future and try to brainstorm ideas to keep me at home. We were so elated to be pregnant but this timeline wasn't the original plan. We were a tad bit stressed, mixed with a whole bunch of excitement. Like we were flying by the seat of our pants, throwing out steadfast plans, and just enjoying the adventure...wherever it would take us. Risky. But thrilling. 

Since that last time we visited, things around Frank & Kaycie's place has changed quite a bit. Their house has been remodeled and expanded so it was great to see the updated version. We also got to see Frank open his gifts before the interns arrived.

Then the house & food table was swarmed by college kids who are working at the camp this summer. Ezra got lots of attention by the girls and we had lots of good junk food {which did a number on my system once we got home}.

At dusk, we made a short hike to the camp's compost pile in the hopes of seeing some bears that have been eating the remains.

There was no activity when we got there so W attached his iflip to a tree to see if he could catch some video. No such luck. 

On Sunday, we had brunch with the whole gang. Here's Ez with Aunt Kaycie and his current favorite toy.

Before heading back home, we hit a thrift store sale, took a family nap, and packed up. We made it back to the bay to see some fireworks as we drove along the freeway. 

Monday was a catch-up day. W had to work & I did some serious house cleaning. Does it make me a bad housewife if the only real motivating factors for housecleaning are either guests or being in the last trimester of pregnancy? Geez! But at least it was sparkling clean for our guests who arrived the following day!
